Ammeter, hot wire type, in an oak case with light varnish; IRT property plate made of brass with inscriptions and serial numbers on front of case; ventilation holes and push button brass latch on case top; broken leather handle remains attached to top; stenciled inscriptions and green plastic tape with raised numerical inscriptions attached to top; hinged cover; cover with silver stenciled inscription and a black background; Board of Transportation calibration tag glued to underside of cover; cut glass pane over paper indication panel with manufacturer's mark and patent date; curved ruled measure with numerical inscriptions in intervals of 0.2 with a range from 0 to 3.0.; back with perforated metal ventilation screen; each side has one brown celluloid capped contact; left side with brass knob (function unknown); yellow painted inscriptions on left side, possibly a NYCT unit number.
