Rheostat panel removed from Power Substation #11 (IRT) in 1999. Controlled the output voltage of motor-generator set.
Manufactured by General Electric Company, original to the site, circa 1917.
Circular cast iron Rheostat with cast iron frame and three wall mounting feet arrange in a triangular pattern; Manufacturer's plate on frame with inscriptions and possible voltage information, however the plate is rusted and illegible; circular transite panel fits into frame, with two rings of contact points; the outer ring has 25 large points and the inner ring has 26 small contact points; Panel stenciled "1" in white paint.
