2 volume (two part) history with illustrations and original photography dealing with both the history of New York Central (NYC) and its predecessors, as well as Grand Central Terminal (GCT) and Its predecessors; Grand Central Depot (GCD) and Grand Central Station (GCS).
A scrupulously documented history comprised of 215 Typed pages, plus a 13 page Appendix, with 77 illustrations, charts, diagrams, maps, etc.
From Preface: "This work deals, primarily, with the constructions of the New Grand Central Terminal ...It aims to trace its historical development, not for the sake of the antiquarian, but to give a connected story of the railroads, in New York City, for which the Terminal was built.
Many Stories have been written regarding the New York and Harlem, The Hudson River, The New York Central and The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroads; these, however, deal with some particular subject, but have never treated any of the railroads as a complete story. To meet this want this information has been compiled."
