Construction of the Manhattan Railway Company's 74th Street Power Station.
An apron on the side of the coal tower, used for disposal of coal ash from the powerhouse boilers, is shown. The apron was extended out to guide ash from storage bunkers within the tower as it was poured in to vessels for disposal. The apron rested against the outside of the coal tower when unused.
