Construction of the Manhattan Railway Company's 74th Street Power Station.
Conveyer equipment in the coal tower is shown. A crane was used to hoist coal off barges on the river in to the coal tower. Coal then traveled on a conveyer system across the bridge to large bins in the top level of the powerhouse. From the bins it was dispersed through chutes to the furnaces below.
